Technologies
My love of literacy does not end with texts of only written form. I believe students need to develop their knowledge and skills of digital literacies in order to be able to strive in our modern digital society. I have
always been very passionate about art and design, which led me to an interest in design and technology. During high school I completed graphics studies including a Certificate II in Multimedia. In year 12 was awarded the subject award for the 3/4 units of ‘Visual Communication and Design’. I have now had experience teaching as a specialist Digital Technology teacher 2018 (Prep-5) as a Technology Leader (2019-2021), and more recently again as a Digital Technology teacher 2021 (Prep-Grade 8). I feel extremely confident with the Technologies curriculum and fully believe it should be integrated across all disciplines.

I have a thorough knowledge of the commonly used software such as Microsoft office and Google Workspace. I have a strong knowledge of design softwares such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and regularly use them to create my own teaching aids, worksheets and personal hobbies. I have an understanding of the film making software Final cut. I am familiar with blog building sites including Blogspot, as well as Edublogs I am also familiar with the website maker Weebly, as well as constructing websites from code (HTML, CSS and Javascript). I am well versed the full Google Suite, and updated and maintained both Staff and Student portals. From my experience as the Specialist Digital Technologies Teacher and Technology leader, I have developed a thorough knowledge of various applications such as imovie, stopmotion pro, beebot & blue-bot apps, scratch & scratch junior, photo editor GIMP, text editor Visual Studio Code, Marvel App maker, WeVideo, Tinkercad, and many more.

P-2 Junior
I always use learning intentions and success criteria in my technology lessons. Students need to know exactly what they are learning, and what they need to do. I try to include pictures to assist with the steps. This is an example learning intention for Preps and Grade Ones.
I used an interactive whiteboard for students to practice their handwriting skills. Practising the letters on a larger scale was effective for encoding the actions into students brains. The interactive whiteboard saved time in having to draw lines on the board, and also saved using paper.

This is an example of activity I created for students to use in conjunction with blue-bot robots. The students had a transparent matt which they needed to arrange in the same way as the picture above. They would then write the code they used from the start, to successfully reach the finish. Student's worked in groups in this activity.

A learning resource I created for my Prep classes, who were needing to learn the location of the delete key. This was to assist them with logging on to a computer.
A learning tool I created for my Prep classes, who were learning how to log off a chromebook. Many of them were not able to read at the time so the visual steps were extremely important

App Building
In 2019 I ran a club called 'App Inventors' for Grade 3 and 4 students that focused on using the design process to solve real life problems in the community using apps. I created 'Birthday Brain' as an example. Students used Marvel App maker to build their apps, then created an advertisement using animation, and promotional merchandise including a 3D sculpture and t-shirt design. Online platform for building 3D objects. Students can also download from a previously made selection of objects. For example I downloaded the brain and candle and arranged them together.
This is an example learning intention for my Grade Four classes. Students were created a narrative animation. I used colour coding to assist them in understanding where things were located on the application. I would only focus on one aspect each lesson, but by the end of the unit, Students were able to produce a narrative demonstrating all the criteria.

This is an scratch animation, I created to demonstrate to students some of the possibilities for their own project. I find creating examples is a very powerful tool in technology, as students understand how the final product could look.
As well as Scratch Jr, I also have a good knowledge of the original scratch coding language.
Graphic DesignI worked with Grade 3/4 students this year (2020) to develop new Values Posters to use as a teaching resource and to promote our Values throughout the school. Students collaborated in small groups on each values, using the design process. Students used google slides to construct people and settings out of layering and manipulating shapes. Students then combined all the small ideas to create one large poster, and refined their ideas by contemplating readability and layout. When completed, posters were printed, framed by the students, and displayed around the school (photos to come of final displays).
I implemented the web/tablet application Kami at my school during the period of online learning. The application allows pdf documents (worksheets) to become more interactive with the ability to add videos, screen recording, voice comments, voice to text feature, and read to me feature. We used this as part of our approach for in Grades 2-6.

The two images above, are a student's work using html code to create a personal website. Students completed an digital licence certificate earlier in the term. They then used their knowledge from this as content to display on a website. As we continued in the year, the students added further work to their websites and attempted using CSS and Javascript code.
This is a teaching resource I used which showed students how to used HTML. I think that short video's can be a powerful teaching tool. This one includes animations, humour, clear definitions, and simple explanations. My students particularly enjoyed the three parts to this video.
This is a website I used with my Grade 5 students in 2018. They are learning how to create their own website in html, css and javascript code. This website has little tutorials teachers can assign their students to do, taking the kids through each of the coding languages. The students really enjoyed this due to its drag and drop feature. It made it easier for students who have limited typing experience.

These are some student examples, of Avatars. Students learnt how Avatars can be used as a safe way represent yourself online. After creating their avatar on a website of their choice which included:
http://www.buildyourwildself.com/ https://www.voki.com/site/create https://switchzoo.com/zoo.htm http://www.doppelme.com/create/ http://www.wimpyourself.com/ https://www.faceyourmanga.com/editmangatar.php They then added their avatar to their website. This is great teaching resource I have used with students who were learning about being smart, safe and secure, when using social networking and gaming sites. I found that it was a great resource due to its song format, humour and animations. Students really engaged with this resource.

This website was a fantastic resource for students learning html coding. It allows the user to practice html, and see the immediate results. Once students felt comfortable using this website, they then moved on to using the text editor Visual Studio Code.
Graphic DesignI worked with Grade 5/6 students this year (2020) to develop new School Rules Posters. We have not finished our final designs as of yet, but below is some of the progress so far.
